The VIA DRIFFIELD project has been developed by the Humber Rural Partnership through the Access to Opportunities Humber Programme. The Partnership facilitates small-scale rural economic development, and aims to support balanced and sustainable rural communities.  The VIA DRIFFIELD project aims to improve rural transport connections and promote smarter and more sustainable travel choices. The project is managed and delivered by Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council.  There is a sister project called VIA BARTON.

We know from evidence gathered by the Department for Transport’s ‘Sustainable Travel Towns’ project that many people do not realise the range of travel options that are available to them. Similarly, we know that in rural areas many people think they have no other option than to buy and use a car, even though they may also be looking for ways to reduce their cost of living, and wish to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle.

By registering with and using the VIA DRIFFIELD project we hope you will be able to identify, develop and try out more sustainable travel solutions. You can use the site to research your options, or contact us for personal travel planning advice and assistance.

Making a smarter travel choice can help you cut your travel costs, become healthier and fitter, and save you time spent in traffic jams if you are a regular car commuter. Through car sharing or using public transport services to access fast onward rail or bus connections you can also help your community retain vital transport links and improve travel options for all.
